Thank you for visiting Answer On Acoustics!

Here you will find a practical approach to studio construction. The goal of this site is to help you understand the physics (basic level) behind the acoustics of your room, whether a home studio, a bigger recording area, a church hall or any community room. Once you understand what is happening in your room, you will be able to work on it, if needed.

  • Here are some quesitons people often ask me:"Our meeting hall is too loud"

    • "We don't understand the speaker even with our new PA system"

    • "After 30min of recording, my voice already gets dry. Why is that?"

    • "How can I record in a quite place without too much investment?"

    • "I hear noise from the street, what can I do?"

If you alsos have such questions, you are at the right place.

Going back to the basics of acoustics to explain what is going on in a specific environment usually makes the problem becomes obvious. I will go through this process with you and even go one step further; I will give you some practical examples and advice that you can use right away.

There is nothing magic in acoustics, there are only things you don't yet understand. That will change now!

With a good understanding of the physics and the use of conventional material (rock wool, plaster board, cloth, ...), you can answer most of your acoustical needs your self. You will avoid common mistakes and feel more confortable in your room. However, for more complicated situations you might have to call upon an acoustics expert anyway but you will still benefit from the information provided here, at least to be "on board" when it comes to discussing options or to understand the technical report from the expert.

You will not find material to buy on this web site. Have a look at the links or browse the Internet for specific material. My goal is to help you choose wisely, knowing what you need in technical terms and not be fooled by a business oriented sales person that is merely interested in making money with you...

And remember: it does not need to be expensive to be good, and the expensive is no guaranty for success! Of course, you can buy fancy looking material and pay the price for it, but the acoustical result will not be better than if you properly use conventional material.

More information and answers will be posted as time goes. Please feel free to Contact me if you have a questions or comment and I will try to answer-on-acoustics. You are also welcome to participate in providing answers and share your knowledge!

And remember: "Don't correct a room, build it right!"
